Tudo o que não consegue resistir à luz de Cristo é aniquilado e transformado. Assim, em Cristo e mediante ele, o velho homem é aniquilado e o novo homem se eleva. O nascimento da Luz original é a base e o começo de uma vida completamente nova. Luz é vida e torna possível uma nova vida, que resulta em um novo comportamento: uma vida segundo o Sermão da Montanha, pois, do contrário, essas palavras seriam incompreensíveis. Contudo, se começardes pelo lado errado, sem colocar a Luz no centro de vossa vida, nada conseguireis. Começai com a Luz!
É a vida que provém da Luz, e não a Luz que provém da vida. É impossível construir alguma coisa com base em vosso antigo comportamento; isso está completamente fora de cogitação. Os que consideram o novo comportamento uma continuação do antigo logo perceberão que a renovação não aconteceu. Os que começam com a Luz não necessitam, graças a ela, esforçar-se pelo novo comportamento; eles não podem fazer outra coisa senão praticá-lo, com todas as consequências que se seguem.
